The Nursultan Nazarbayev Educational Foundation holds the annual "Teacher of the Year" competition.
This year it starts on November 10 for teachers at the Foundation's schools and on December 1 for nursery school teachers. The aim of the competition is to encourage talented teachers, stimulate innovative experience and the development of professional competences aimed at high academic achievements of students.
Teachers from Arystan Lyceum, Miras International Schools in Astana and Almaty, Almaty International School, as well as kindergarten teachers from Miras International Schools and Miras Nursery School in Astana, Almaty and Atyrau, will take part in the competition.

The contestant must have at least three years of teaching experience, a portfolio confirming high results of external evaluation of students' achievements, students who are winners of Olympiads, competitions at city, regional, national and international levels. There should also be evidence of his/her expert activities in national and international communities and organisations, participation in authorisation and accreditation teams.
Last year's "Teacher of the Year" competition included a selection process based on a professional portfolio, a competition for open lessons, master classes and a competition of creative assignments. Eight winners received cash prizes of 500,000 tenge and one participant received an encouragement award of 200,000 tenge.

Following the results of last year's competition, the rules for this academic year's competition are being updated.
