On 24-25 February 2022, the annual Model UN MIS MUN-2022 conference was held at the Miras International School in Almaty in an online format.

This event was attended by students from the cities of Nur-Sultan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kiev, Baku, Pavlodar, Uralsk, Turkestan and Almaty. The official languages ​​of the conference were: English, Kazakh and Russian.

The Model UN “MIS MUN-2022” conference presented the work of 6 committees aimed at discussing specific issues:

• The Security Council - contemporary threats to peace and international security;
• The Human Rights Committee - discrimination in the modern world and how to overcome it, protection of children in armed conflict, women's rights;
• The Economic and Financial Committee - financing and development of small and medium-sized businesses in pandemic countries, the global e-commerce marketplace and its development in modern world;
• The Environmental Committee - increasing global air pollution and how different countries are dealing with it, environmental management of chemicals and waste, climate change and associated risks;
• The Committee of the World Health Organization -   ensuring healthy lives for young people in a pandemic, vaccination worldwide and countering misinformation, children with disabilities in a pandemic.
• The Committee of Science and Technology for Development - ethical use of artificial intelligence, exploration of space technologies, technological revolution in modern world.

The issues addressed during the Model UN “MIS MUN-2022” online conference were part of the actual agenda of the United Nations. The delegates of the forum were able to draw the attention of young people to the global challenges of our time, to expand knowledge of international law and security, economic and social development of nations.

The online conference Model UN “MIS MUN-2022" made it possible to expand the sphere of communication among both young delegates and with the representatives of the UN, UNESCO, foreign embassies and consulates in the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as of international organizations.

The main speaker (keynote speaker) at the Model UN " MIS MUN-2022" online conference was Vlastimil Samek, Head of the UN Department of Global Communications in the Republic of Kazakhstan.  

Online meetings were held between young journalists from the press center of Miras International School and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to Kazakhstan, Mr Willy Kempel, as well as with Ashot Hrantovich Alikhanyan, Head of the Anania Shirakatsi School (Yerevan, Armenia).

The junior Miras press-correspondents were interested in protecting the rights and well-being of children during pandemic; the strategies of states that can prevent the global economic crisis; and words of encouragement from respected representatives of international organizations to the participants in the Model UN " MIS MUN2022" online conference.  

The online Model UN Conference " MIS MUN 2022" was arranged at a high level. This is evidenced by the words of gratitude from its guests and participants to the organizing committee and their wish to meet next year in an offline format.
