From April 10 to 12 the national water competition was held at the school. This was the third time it had taken place and students from 26 schools in the country took part!

A special diploma was awarded to Beimuratov Arsen, a student of Specialized Gymnasium No. 8 named after M.K. Dulati, Shymkent, for his presentation "Triboelectric effect ("aquatic environment")". The judges noted that the development of the project could lead to the creation of a new generation of low-power electricity generators.

Third place was awarded to Valeria Nakraynikova and Roman Tsoy from the International School of Almaty for their presentation 'The Future with Clean Water'. The children draw public attention to an important issue - the quality of drinking water.

Second place was taken by Aruzhan Izguttinova, a student of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Chemistry and Biology in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Her presentation "A Study of the Sorption of Heavy Metals from Aquatic Solutions by Sorbents Based on Cellulosic Waste" is appealing because of its scientific validity and commercial potential.

First place and a trip to Stockholm were won by Polina Stremskaya and Diyar Bashikov with their project "Application of hydroponics method in growing green fodder". The project addresses important issues for Kazakhstan in finding ways to save water and provide conditions for fodder cultivation.
