On April 23, Miras teachers and employees made their regular trip to Orphanage №1.

As usual, the children and staff of the orphanage.

Every visit to these guys show us we have (welcomed us with kindness) not wasted our days off. These kids know how to enjoy the simplest things! They are also very open and frank!

Whenever you go to visit an orphanage, you try to guess what would be interesting for the guys, what they would like to play or do. But the more you know these children, the more often you visit them, the easier to find an activity that they will love.

Primary school teacher Adam Huggins comes to the guys not only on Sundays, but on Saturdays as well. The boys from a senior group are always waiting for him. Adam can organize interesting and fun games both indoors and outdoors.

Primary school English teacher Marcella Bahniuk visited the orphanage for the second time. Marcella is a very creative person. Everybody knows her hobby - she is fond of embroidery, crocheting and sewing. Marcella is trying to teach all of this to the girls from the middle group of the orphanage. This weekend she created art project to the song, “Twinkle, twinkle little star.” She also helped swimming coach Natalya Ignatyeva and the children to plant flowers. It was .Natalya’s first visit to the orphanage. She was very worried. Her husband and son came to support her. They prepared seeds, seedlings and garden tools and then together with the pupils of the orphanage planted flowers on the flowerbed. The guys enjoyed this activity very much! I.Natalya promised that next time they would plant tomatoes and cucumbers. And the guys would not only have their own beautiful flowerbed but also their own small, vegetable garden!))  

Miras psychologist Zarina Yelbayeva held music therapy and communicative games with the girls of the junior group. Zarina is a frequent guest of the guys. Before the job in our school she attended orphanage No1 to hold ART therapy and psychological trainings. For every visit to the orphanage Zarina prepares in advance, that is why her classes are always interesting and lively. She is ready to answer a kid's any has question and to solve a child’s any problem. 

Tatyana Napalkova participated in our project since the first day. She holds the games for children to develop their logical thinking. Solving charades and puzzles, Tatiana N. tells the children different stories and legends, associated with a particular game or riddle. The teacher works with a junior group of girls. Every her lesson is a fabulous, magical tour to the world of puzzles and wishes, which are sure to be realized.

This time, one small wish of the junior group of the orphanage, “Aigolek” was fulfilled. It was owners of the pet store, “Zhivoi Ugolok” Indira and Saken Bektanov who helped us to realize that. The point is that the girls of “Aigolek” have dreamt for a long time about “The Goldfish”, which fulfills all wishes.  Besides the Goldfish, the girls were presented a bowl and all necessary accessories to it from the pet store.  “Caring is first of all!” - is the motto of the pet store, “Zhivoi Ugolok.” And we are sure that this small action will deepen into real friendship! The staff of the pet shop has already invited the girls of Aigolek’s junior group to a field trip for “Zhivoi Ugolok.” Thus, new people who are not members of our school, but also want to participate in this action, joined our project.

On 12 April 2017 as a part of MYP Service Students in 8A.Action arranged a performance for kids from Orphanage 1 called “Three Princesses”.

Miras Students addressed up as Fairy tale characters, performed magic tricks and the impressive play of theyoung performers created the atmosphere of miracles and celebration. In addition, our students prepared a sweet gift for the kids – ice cream made by a domestic producer, Shin Lain Company, which was a big surprise for them.

We are looking forward to meeting our new friends!

The project, "Help to orphanage No. 1" is growing in strength and drawing in new volunteers to cooperation.
On April 2, the teachers of Miras International School Almaty visited the children of the orphanage.
The Miras volunteers held interesting lessons with the pupils:
• The training, "Communication Skills;" board games for the development of thinking (in English)– Adam Huggins, Alla Kurbanova;
• Doing crafts from different materials; the games for logical thinking - Tatyana Napalkova;
• Dances in different styles - Assel Baimbetova, Elena Holina;
• ART therapy; a communicative training – Zarina Yelbayeva.

We invite volunteers to cooperation.

The project participants are going on successfully with their work, started last month.
On March 12, the Miras teachers visited the guys of the orphanage.
The school volunteers held interesting lessons with the pupils:

• The training, "Social and interpersonal interaction;" board games for the development of thinking (in English) - Adam Huggins;
• Chess – Timur Gubaidulin;
• Games for the development of a logical thinking (rebuses, puzzles, charades, etc.) -Tatyana Napalkova;
• Board and action-oriented games - Alla Kurbanova, Elena Holina;
• Origami – Alla Dembayuk;
• Making beads – Marcella Bahniuk.

Miras International School Almaty has started the project, "Help Orphanage №1."
The mover of the project is Nursultan Nazarbayev Educational Foundation.
The important strands of the charity project is to help children in learning such subjects as mathematics, the English and Russian languages, the promotion of sports activities and cultural events among the orphanage pupils.

As a part of the programme, our school teachers expressed willingness to establish "The weekend club." What is that? Once a week, on Saturday or Sunday, everybody may come to the orphanage for 1-2 hours in order to play or work with the children, to organize any interesting and safe activities for them.

During afterschool time the orphanage pupils visit our clubs: Dance, Art, Physical training. Miras Psychology Department renders a regular psychological support to the orphanage staff and hold career guidance classes for the pupils.

On February 25 the teachers of Miras International School Almaty visited orphanage №1. On behalf of the whole school community they congratulated the pupils and staff of orphanage №1 on Maslenitsa festival and, of course, gave them gifts.

On February 10 there was a trip to the National Institute of Oncology. Grade 10-11 students of Miras school, participated in the trip, On behalf of the whole school community the students wished the patients from the Children's Department of the Institute to recover as soon as possible giving them toys, books, board games, rendered material assistance to seriously ill patients. The money, raised from different charities by the Secondary School Student Council, were delivered to buy decorative indoor plants to the amount of 200 000 tenge. Beautiful plants will adorn the corridors of the Children's Department of the Oncology Institute.

On December 14, there were New Year events at Miras International School, Almaty.

Primary School students invited children from orphanage №1 to share the joy of this celebration.

The PTA and primary school students prepared New Year gifts for the kids.

Students in Grade 11A have arranged a fundraising activity and bought a walker (a tool for disabled or elderly people who need additional support to maintain balance or stability while walking) for Dmitry Mikhailovich Malyshev who is a WWII veteran. Our school for many years has been maintaining good relations with him. Mr. Dmitry Mikhailovich thanked everyone for the walker which now helps him walk again and live life to the fullest.
