The Student Council of Miras International School Almaty lent a hand to orphanage №1 child Arman Nalibayev. School supplies were purchased for graphics and drawing. We hope the presented items will help to develop Arman’s creative abilities as well as to give him the joy of communication with the world of painting art.

From 23 March through 3 April "Real Madrid", the world famous Spanish club, conducted football courses at Miras International School. Children of Orphanage #1 Vyachaslav Khan and Abram Ogly took part in these courses and received Real Madrid club uniforms and certificates of participation.
However, this was not the only charity action. In addition, on 28 April Miras International School teachers visited Orphanage 1 to give photos of the matches to participants and footballs to orphans. These gifts were purchased with the funds raised from the Miras charity action of Nayruz, 2016.
The Administration of Orphanage 1 is grateful to the whole Miras community for their efforts and care for the orphans!

Charity actions serve as a good example of care for orphans, sick children and animals. These projects instill the culture of charity, love, respect and sympathy in people, and encourage people to help those whoare around us and need our help and support.
In February the world was getting ready for spring with public holidays and carnivals and our school also has a good tradition which is the Winter Fun Fair. This year it took place on 20 February. It is a family holiday consisting of games, songs, food… and much more! Any event in our school community is an opportunity for service, and during these moments we try not to forget about those who need our assistance, support and care.
Following the tradition, we invited children from Orphanage #1 who participated in games and fun activities. The PTA arranged a festive table with delicious food for the kids and our students presented them with toys and books as gifts.
Also during the celebration there were charity stations such as “Painting faces”, “Make it yourself” and “Miracles of hand-made baking”. The purpose of these stations was to raise funds to help the kids from the Republican Oncology Center and “Dos” Animal Shelter. All people who were there took active part in these actions.
“Help children of the Republican Oncology Center in Almaty” project has yielded its results. On stations organized by Primary and Secondary School Student Council and Art teachers everyone including adults and kids tried some home-made baked goods, learnt how to make handicrafts and other masterpieces of art. As a result, we raised 60 000 Tenge. In addition, parents of students in 1F and the Paks (the family of a student in 9A)each donated 10 000 Tenge to the charity (the Unit of the Oncology Institute).
In total, to help “Dos” Animal Shelter there was donated 31 400 Tenge, out of which 18 600 Tenge was raised in the “Miracles of hand-made baking” station organized by 9A students, and 12 800 Tenge was fundraised on the stations “Painting faces” and “Make it yourself” organized by primary and secondary school art teachers. In addition, our students arrangeda Dog Food and Litter Drive. “Dos” Animal Shelter Authorities showed a film about the life of homeless animals in the shelter and people who take care of them, which both children and adults enjoyed.
A photo exhibition - “He Could Have Been YourFriend” left nobody indifferent either. There were photos of the dogs which are waiting for their owners. The Authorities of the shelter thank our students and parents for their support for the action as this is a topical issue in our city. Of course, this kind of volunteering needs support and involvement of our citizensas care and sympathy for animals,which have been left on various reasons,help children to develop a sense of mercy.
On 11 March Tatyana Vishneva, an AES Department dance teacher, jointly with “Карамельки” dance group and Primary school students,arranged a charity concert which took place in the school theatre. The purpose of this concert was not only to congratulate parents and teachers on the International Women’s Day (8 March) but also to help the Children’s Oncology Unit, which it did by raising 40 000 Tenge.
As a result of these charity actions (Winter Fun Fair and Spring Mood for the Children’s Unit of the Oncology Institute) we fundraised in total 120 000 Tenge, and collected table games and toys as well.
On 17 March 2016 there was a trip to the Oncology Institute. School; teachers donated books, toys, table games and 120 000 Tenge to the Children’s Unit. There were 15 children in the Unit. Having talked to the medical staff we decided to help all children. So, every parent of a child who took treatment in the Unit received 8 000 Tenge. This money came at an opportune time for the families, being shortly before the Nauryz holiday. Parents and medical staff thanked students, their parents and Miras staff for their care and attention.
From 23 March through 3 April “Real Madrid”, a Spanish football club,conducted football courses at Miras International School. The participants of these courses learnt football techniques and improved their sports skills taught by Spanish coaches.
As a part of a charity action Miras School requested the organizers to enroll children of Orphanage #1 Vyachaslav Khan and Abram Ogly.
The kids took part in training classes, received a Real Madrid club uniform and certificates,and most importantly, experienced unforgettable feelings while learning from experts of such a famous club.

As a part of celebration of the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate the festival, “Miras Alemi” was held for the first time at this school on November 14, 2015.
That was not only an event with fun games and quizzes, but a real festival of the Kazakh culture during which everyone could take part in the master-classes of professional artists, designers, musicians, film experts, sportsmen, art photographers, historians, museum staff, as well as get acquainted with the Kazakh people’s wealth of culture.
In the festival there were charitable stations for collection of toys, books and board games; sale of children’s art works, crafts, culinary products, decorations, photo pictures and more.

As a result of the charitable stations is the total sum of 215 350 tenge with a lot of children's toys, board games, books and other things. Nobody was indifferent to the announced action; kids and adults took part in the Festival and made strong contribution to the act of kindness.
A charitable assistance was rendered to three children's organizations:
On December 1, 2015 at Almaty orphanage №1 there was the holiday, “Kindness for children’s sake!” – “Rizashylyқ”, to which our students were invited. Our visit was very much to the point since we brought our little friends books, toys, board games and other things collected during the Festival. The orphanage’s pupils and staff thanked the students, parents and all Miras school for care, respect, support and a good attitude.
On December 10, 2015 there was a trip to the National Institute of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery. Teachers who participated in the trip, on behalf of the whole school community congratulated little patients of the children's oncohematology unit on the New Year, wished them a speedy recovery and handed toys, books and board games. The school cafeteria also baked tasty biscuits for the kids. The funds collected during the festival from the sale of children's crafts, drawings and culinary products, were used to buy an acoustic system, a thermo pot, and fabric for 50 bedspreads for the children's oncohematology unit. Also we would like to express our gratitude to the staff of the home textiles shop, “Zhassau” with their manager A. Zhumabekov, who joined the action, sewed bedspreads of the fabric bought by us and handed them over to the patients of the children's oncohematology unit.
The MIRAS community has rendered assistance to this hospital several times this year. For example, in September the secondary school students together with Art teacher B. Urmuzov held the action, “The warmth by own hands”. They drew the composition, “Fairy Castle” in the hall of this hospital.
During the festival, “Miras Alemi” the parents of Grade 3A collected 35 000 tenge for an operation on the transplantation of bone marrow to 9 years old Diana Murzina. This amount was added with 56,600 tenge, which was collected by the teaching staff of Miras. All the collected sum 91 600 tenge were given to the surgery of the sick child.
We thank all those who took part in the charitable actions. Miras is a big and united family including the community of students, teachers, parents and staff. Every day, bit by bit, we together make this world better.
In May and June 2015 our school hosted the following charity actions:
In May Miras published the school newspaper “Miras Times” edited by Natalia Kenevich. As a result of newspaper sales we collected 12 000 Tenge which was given to School Charitable Fund.
Every year our school hosts “Karamelki”a charitable concert where Preschool students can also participate. The concert was organized by dance teacher Tatiana Vishneva, on June 3rd we held another concert during which charitable donations were given to children suffering from oncological diseases. In total we donated 37 700 Tenge together with some gifts for the children of the Orphanage.
The total sum donated by KG B Homeroom Leader Zuhra Valiyeva is 33 500 Tenge.
All the raised funds, 85 200 Tenge, was given to Dilshat Turganov, 13, who has a brain tumor and is taking a course of treatment in the Republican Institute of Oncology in Almaty.

Financial support enables pediatric patients to get essential medication, appropriate examination and expensive surgery. This is all possible because of the generosity of our school community.

Miras supportsmany charities helping orphanages, boarding schools for children with special needs and those who suffer from oncological diseases.
In February we raised some 185, 470 tenge for Anna Gubenko who requiresa bone marrow transplant and is now being treated in Minsk, Belorussia and this financial aid will help cover expensive surgery.
Miras PTA and Student Council made a decision to donate monies raised during the Miras International School Cup Kyokushinkai Karate-do Open Tournament which took place on 15 March 2015. This contest was held under the guidance of Favourite KZ Kyokushinkai Karate-Do Federation. Many thanks go to the Abissinovs family who gave huge support to the organizers of the event and initiated a fundraising campaign raising 350 000 tenge, 240 000 was given to Anya Gubenko and 110 000 was given to NastyaMorozova who also requires treatment for an oncology disease.
In addition to this on the 26 April 2015 Miras International School Staff participated in a charity marathon raising a further 35 400 which was donated to Anya Gubenko’s treatment.
Then on the 24 April 2015 as a result of a student and parent initiative Miras International School held a charity disco to support Nastya Morozova who suffers from retinoblastoma. This charity was supported by Almaty private schools: AIS, Haileybury, Tamos, Lyceum 48, School 56, Kazakh-Turkish Lyceum and School of Entrepreneurs. Kazakhstani pop stars such as:Ruslan Berdimatov, Zhangali Abishev, Band “Mezzo”, Ilias Autov attended and supported this event. Our thanks to the PTA representatives RezedaUzakova and Zhanar Abissinova who made ahuge contribution to this charity.
As a result of these actions some 260 000 tenge was raised and donatedto NastyaMorozova’ medical treatment.
We would like to thank students, parents, teachers and the whole school community for participating actively during these events. This kind of actions instillsphilanthropy at the centre of the community bringing people together to work for the common good of all. Helping the needy giving them a sparkle of hope.

Miras International School and Orphanage #1 have a longstanding relationship of friendliness and sharing as MIS students make many visits and the students at the orphanage are also included in many of Miras’ events and celebrations.
On 10 April 2015 students in 3D, their homeroom leader Adam Huggins, and Secondary School Student Council members visited the orphanage and wished its children Happy Nauryz. Certainly, having followed our tradition, the students did not go there empty-handed, but with gifts.
Empathy and the ability to feel the pain of others impel humans to do good deeds. There are many people who are ready to share their heart’s warmth. As you know our school helps children who suffer from oncological diseases, disabled children and orphans, and for that purpose during big celebrations we organize charity actions. On 21 February 2015 Miras hosted Winter Fun Fair where there were the following charity stations: “Amazing Baked Foods.
By my own hands”, “Make It Yourself”, “Hand-Made Miracles” and “Face Drawings”.The purpose of the stations was to raise funds to help children of the Children’s Unit of the Republic Oncology Center in Almaty and orphans. As a result of this some 47 200 tenge was collected.
On 10 April 2015 students of 8A, 8D, 9A, 9D, 9C and 11A visited the Kazakh Oncology Research Institute (Child Oncology Unit). Before that, these grades arranged fundraising activities (125 000 tenge) and charity toy drives. All the raised funds were given to the children who have oncology diseases to help them get proper treatment: AlisherRamazanov (ICP and oncology), TimofeiLyalko, 14, salivary gland cancer;Lolita Kurtysh,9, leucosis;BakytBazarbai, 11, brain tumor; GulnazBazarbai, 7, brain tumor.
The total amount of financial aid was 172 000Tenge. The aid provided by Miras students was not limited to monetary donations, but also via sharing our time and talents. So, our students organized a puppet show, recited poetry, sang songs and painted together with them. That day we wanted to see these children happy and help them forget about their sufferings. Our joint efforts were fruitful. Our students attempted to share their love, warmth, care and support with these strong and brave kids fighting such serious diseases.

As usual cheerfully, joyfully and happily.
The reason forour joy had been wonderful Miras International School students and their teachers! The students organized a concert, including congratulations, wishes and handmade puppets).
Having finished their puppet show all the children went painting and played games with junior kids, and the older ones chatted.
And, of course, there were some sweet gifts.
Besides, the five ones most in need received some funds raised in our school. Way to go, kids! We thank parents for bringing their children up in love and mercy.
In general, on Friday the sad spot in the center of our lovely city for a while transformed into a livelier and warmer place!

Parents of students in 3D donated toys, table games and sports equipment for the orphans and the PTA budget provided for pies and balloons. During the holiday of spring, friendship and kindness, all kids played games, danced together and had meals and drinks. We hope the kids who needed care and attention felt that they were loved and assured that they will have many happy and joyful days ahead. One cannot imagine the world without the bright sun in the blue sky, without love, kindness and mercy, without kind and sympathetic people, and without children’s happy smiles. At all times our world has been and will be wonderful. We will always be grateful to the students, parents, teachers, staff and students who share their time, money, and heart’s warmth, for sympathy makes it possible to express the best human qualities and, thus makes us better.
